Why Eid al-Ghadeer Deserves a Bigger Celebration

Despite its significance, Eid al-Ghadeer often gets less attention than Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha, even though many scholars consider the event at Ghadeer Khumm to be one of the most consequential moments in Islamic history. It’s the day the question of leadership after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was directly addressed.

Part of the reason it’s under-celebrated may simply be visibility, there’s less commercial and cultural infrastructure built around it compared to the other Eids. That’s slowly changing, with more families hosting gatherings, wearing Ghadeer-specific apparel, and treating the day with the celebration it warrants.

If you want to help normalize a bigger Eid al-Ghadeer celebration in your own circle, starting with something visible, like our Ghadeer T-shirt, is an easy first step. Learn more about what Eid al-Ghadeer commemorates.
