Few themes appear as consistently across Islamic teachings as the responsibility to care for orphans. The Quran addresses the treatment of orphans directly, warning against mistreating them or consuming their inheritance unjustly, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), himself orphaned as a child, is reported to have said that he and whoever cares for an orphan will be as close as two fingers in Paradise.
For Shia Muslims, this responsibility carries extra weight given the history of Ahl al-Bayt, including the hardships faced by the family of Imam Hussain (AS) after Karbala. Supporting orphans today is often seen as an extension of that same value, protecting the most vulnerable members of the community regardless of where they live.
